Nevada's Feud

The Rove Republican Racket like all Republicans want to be  the "most" law and order officials in the country.Without a tough "law and order" persona, the Republicans would feel naked.

In Nevada, where Republicans and Libertarian Ron Paul freaks control the desert outside Las Vegas, a feud between two lawmen has gone ugly and has gone national because of a well-written piece in The Wall Street Journal.

PAHRUMP, Nev.—Like a scene from a Western movie, the two top lawmen here are settling their scores in public. In May, a Nye County sheriff's deputy arrested the district attorney. The sheriff, Tony De Meo, alleges that the D.A., Robert Beckett, was misusing public funds. According to Mr. De Meo, public money had gone to supporting the local cheerleading squad, led by the D.A.'s wife, and to make a family friend's car payments. No charges have been filed, in part because Mr. Beckett, the D.A., refuses to charge himself.

Meanwhile, Mr. Beckett appointed a special prosecutor to investigate possible abuses of power by the sheriff's office and other public officials. Mr. Beckett claims that arresting him was part of an effort to sabotage his re-election. Mr. Beckett ended up running last among five candidates in the Republican primary.

Big Brother and Twitter

The Rove Republican Racket successfully targeted, prosecuted, and incarcerated Democrats and other politicians by stretching the law.

In some case, the victims of the Rove Racket had done something stupid or unethical, but not criminal. In many cases, it wasn't a crime, just stupidity.

Now  it has been revealed that federal agents are using Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks to target U.S.citizens, guilty or innocent.

These social networks are not the center of criminal activity. They are the center of political activity, and Uncle Sam is watching you!

The Reno Gazette Journal reports:

U.S. law enforcement agents are following the rest of the Internet world into popular social-networking services, going undercover with false online profiles to communicate with suspects and gather private information, according to an internal Justice Department document that offers a tantalizing glimpse of issues related to privacy and crime-fighting. Think you know who's behind that "friend" request? Think again. Your new "friend" just might be the FBI.

The document, obtained in a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, makes clear that U.S. agents are already logging on surreptitiously to exchange messages with suspects, identify a target's friends or relatives and browse private information such as postings, personal photographs and video clips. Among other purposes: Investigators can check suspects' alibis by comparing stories told to police with tweets sent at the same time about their whereabouts. Online photos from a suspicious spending spree — people posing with jewelry, guns or fancy cars — can link suspects or their friends to robberies or burglaries.

Fired by Rove, U.S. Attorney Gets Old Job Back

Daniel Bogden never really got a good answer why President George W. Bush fired him from his post as U.S. attorney for Nevada in 2006. But it doesn't matter to Bogden anymore. He's got his old job back.

"It's my decision to move forward as U.S. attorney and not dwell in the past," Bogden said as he prepares to become the only one of nine federal prosecutors ousted in 2006 to return to his appointed post. He expects to begin before Oct. 10.

"I did not do anything wrong that merited my firing without notice," said Bogden, a 53-year-old career criminal prosecutor who measures words and their meaning and calls himself politically nonpartisan. Bush nominated him in 2001 at the suggestion of Republican U.S. Sen. John Ensign of Nevada.

U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, the Democratic majority leader, wanted Bodgen to return to his old post to "right the wrong" of his dismissal, said Reid's spokesman, Jon Summers. President Obama gave his blessing, and the Senate confirmed Bodgen on Sept. 15.

A Justice Department inspector general's investigation concluded that the 2006 purge of Bogden and top federal prosecutors in Arkansas, Michigan, Missouri, New Mexico, Phoenix, Seattle, San Diego and San Francisco was "unsystematic and arbitrary."

Revenge in Nevada

Karl Rove spearheaded the firing of nine U.S. Attorneys in 2006 for pure political purposes. Last Friday, one of those former U.S. Attorneys had the sweetest revenge against the Rove Republican Racket: he was renominated for the same post.

President Obama on Friday nominated Daniel G. Bogden, whose firing as a federal prosecutor by the Bush administration is under congressional investigation for its potentially partisan motivation, to return to his former job nearly three years after his dismissal. Bogden's nomination as Nevada U.S. attorney marks a step toward reversing what many Democrats consider the previous administration's illegal firing of nine federal prosecutors in 2006. Congress began investigating the dismissals the next year, and this week Karl Rove, Bush's top political adviser, concluded two days of closed-door testimony before the House Judiciary Committee about the firings.
